wish I'd said that...

I don't know who she is, but patriotsgirl makes an excellent observation over at Football Outsiders. In a discussion of officiating during the Patriots-Ravens game monday night and complaints by Ravens players and fans that the league is "helping" the Patriots, she advises...

"I’d say never to assume malice when stupidity [or incompetence] will suffice.

This sentiment may have originated with someone else and may already be on tshirts, coffee mugs and bumper stickers. But I thank patriotsgirl for making me aware of it this time.

I've tried to make the same statement on numerous occasions in real life and at BMG. I'll certainly use this line in the future.
